ZTelco Virtual PBX | What Do I Need?
Do I have enough bandwidth for ZTelco Virtual PBX?

Below is the average bandwidth available based on the most popular delivery methods. Remember bandwidth used for data transmissions will have an effect on the number of concurrent calls supported. However, these numbers can be used for estimating if a customer possesses enough bandwidth to support ZTelco Virtual PBX. A bandwidth testing tool should be used to gauge the true amount of bandwidth each organization has, but for rough estimates, these numbers will work. ZTelco Virtual PBX requires approximately 20Kb/s of free upload bandwidth per concurrent call.

Download Kb/s Upload Kb/s Number of concurrent calls
Cable 1700 1000 14

DSL

1150 768 6
T1 1500 1500 24

Upload speed is what is important with ZTelco Virtual PBX. If you do not have enough upload bandwidth to support the number of concurrent calls you would like, you will need to upgrade your connection or add another one.

Is my network ready for ZTelco Virtual PBX?

If you will need more than 20 phones in a location, there may be the need for a dedicated gateway onsite. This gateway allows for reduced bandwidth consumption and customized features which are not possible with out it.

Expensive quality of service is not needed as we use a dedicated and seperate data connection which is only used for voice packets making it impossible to have a quality of service issue

For organizations with 20 or more users, ZTelco recommends a dedicated T1 connection to ensure flawless preformance. Networks with fewer users we reccomend a dedicated internet connection.Â

Is my Internet Connection reliable enough to support ZTelco Virtual PBX?

Go to the Command Prompt from any computer on your network and type the following command:

ping phone.ztelco.com

The results will give you numbers for Minimum, Maximum, and Average Latency.
If the number for Average is 100ms or less, this indicates conditions are favorable for VoIP service.

If latency is greater than 100ms, then you may need to switch internet service providers before you can reliably use ZTelco Virtual PBX.
